The History Of a Y-ep Player Empty The History Of a Y-ep Player

Post by bossmanjason Mon Jan 26, 2015 3:59 am

_BmJ_ Monday, January, 26, 2015.

My journey started with Exit Path when the game first came out somewhere around June, 1, 2010. I was 12 years old and had just started holiday from school. I got in armor games like I had often done during class and discovered this great game.. Exit Path. I played this game for a few months with probably a few thousand games under my belt and the rank of grandmaster even stumbling on members of y-ep every once and a while (I didn't really know about y-ep at the time but I saw them talk in game) at the time I just labeled these crazy good players as hackers  and as I began to learn some tricks not very good ones but still tricks glitchers. until my school resumed session sometime during early september. All this time still unknowing of the y-ep community. And so with my school in session I forgot about exit path, and would continue to do so until the time of 2012.

The year is 2012, and I just began my summer holiday yet again. I was bored of all the video games I had and wanted something to play that peaked my interest. I had somehow the vaguest memory of the game exit path, however I did not remember the name of this game or even what service it was located under. So I searched and scoured the Web for games relating to racing and stick figures and eventually I found it and the greatest feeling of accomplishment washed over me. ( this was over the course of about 4-5 days of searching.) as you can assume my computer had changed as well as a lot of other things that would have happened regardless that had put me back to level zero in the game of exit path as i did not have an armor games account, so i played again regain my rank of level 41 grandmaster and the rekindling of my interest in a game i now find to be an oddly timeless piece of at least my youth that i will return to again and again.

Through playing the vanilla version of exit path I achieved minor skills and achievements  ( I.E i could double)  and felt confident in my skill as a member of the exit path community now under the title of bossmanjason later to turn into the title of _BmJ_. And finally I discovered y-ep I saw in game people chatting in game, and was perplexed as to how they did it and so i googled and googled and finally on youtube found a video on how to get into yck exit path (https://youtu.be/lsAfXnM1qZo) and so every game entered I would type immediatley “yck?” until finally I'd find someone and they would make me race them and It was actually hard for me to get in because they made me beat them in at least 7 pf nine games until they finally let me in but eventually I made it and i discovered Y-ep for real. I joined Y-ep At the downfall of the previous site and the rebirth in the current site ( ep-sys.appspot.com) and have been there for 2 years.

I am a mentor currently and hope to be with the site forever or until it dies, (It has proven to be hard to kill) I skipped my journeys within the 2 years of the current site but that would take me a very long time to type

       so here is the start and beginnings of me _BmJ_
I dont really know why i felt like writing this up but to all the current new people on exit path as I know very few of you currently I just thought it would be interesting to share some of my history with exit path.
_BmJ_ moved by exit path since 2010.

The History Of a Y-ep Player Empty Re: The History Of a Y-ep Player

Post by GhostofNinja Mon Jan 26, 2015 10:38 pm

Oh this is fun. My turn.

~~GON~~

In late 2010, also at the age of 12 (come on guys, this game is for little kids. why do we like it so much?), I discovered Exit Path. It was my first experience with the true power of the interwebz, its ability to connect people across the planet, for better or for worse. I was intrigued, although at that time I was probably more fascinated by the ability to beat real life people into the ground than I was by making friends I would otherwise never meet in my life. My egotistical little twelvie brain only wanted winz and stats, and I generally got what I wanted. I was never a super elite player, but I was decent. I hit level 41, played around 4000 matches, learned a few tricks, and got invited to the "ghost clan". My memories are hazy at best about the clan. As far as I can remember, there was no method of communication between "ghosts", so it was more like a high school club with no organization or leadership whatsoever (co-president of my school's astronomy club coming through, I'm a big deal). Anyways, I played for a couple months, then naturally got bored, as I didn't make friends and y-ep didn't exist yet. Unless it did, and I was just deemed too noobish or unfriendly to garner an invite.

Anyways, cut to four years later. December 2014, 16 years old now, I get bored after 300+ hours of Civilization V (10/10 would recommend) and turn back to this game. I have no idea how I remembered it, and I fully expected the online servers to resemble Chernobyl. But amidst the wreckage and the ruin, I found a wild Malk...and now I'm here. Still too noobish, still too unfriendly, but I'd imagine y-ep standards have dropped a lot since way back when. (joking about the unfriendly bit by the way...I hope I still don't come across as a 12-year-old statmongerer)

so that's the history of exit path for me GON
I don't really know why I felt like writing this much either, but to all the current old people on exit path, as I know almost none of you currently, I just thought it would be interesting to share some of my history with exit path.
GON, moved by exit path since 2010?

The History Of a Y-ep Player Empty Re: The History Of a Y-ep Player

Post by dragon144 Tue Jan 27, 2015 9:10 pm

Oh my god..... where should I start?

~~~Dragon14(hijacked)/Dragon144/AngelOfHaramony~~~
(mixture of EP history and my own history. I will also add fragment of other history of me as I cant fit everything in my main story line or else it would be total mess)
As some of you might know, EP as been an old game date from 2009. I was lucky enough I discover AG via Krin's game initially (and raze lol) and I have nothing to do when I was in middle school (we called it secondary school in where I live but ill use US/UK terms for your convince). Although I am usully into Strategy and Music game, this game somehow gravitates me and I decide to master this game.
I started to play multiplayer after 1 month of playing uniplayer (I always though I need to at least become good in order to play multiplayer). And around some time I start to regonize some really good players (Darwin37, hulklogen, gaboloth, plear, 1000words etc. and many names most of you prob wont heard of) and I also met CludioDuestEst (idk the spelling) who happens to be my mentor in this game (sort of). He is the one who invited me in the GhostofExitPath chat, a semi-secretive chat group which only inivites good players to go inside and used to be ghost exclusive chat (ghost clan is the most elite clan back in those days). He also helps me explore the marathon trick and double jump which is the hardest trick we had. We also chat a lot of personal issues and funny stuff on one screen while playing on another during those days where there is only AG. We communicate mostly by Skype, xat and email and the community was frankly more interlocked in those days. (Invitation is relatively strict too!!!).
As I have been in the community for quite some time, I would say I am a semi-elite player and a tricker. I know majority of the tricks and due to my curiosity of sticking I also invented bouncer-stick-teleport trick? (I never put my name on any of my trick I invented) which is also recorded in my Mentor's youtube channel (I dont have youtube channel back then). Many tricks like troppo also emerged and more complex shortcuts have been found. In late 2011 I also happens to meet my BFF in the EP world who is MagicTales, who left for a long time already but we still connect sometimes. Smile
In 2011, YEP prototype has emerged. The communitys' opinion however was quite mixed as the element of racing will no longer be preserved. Some of them left because of it. Anyways, YEP has proved to be a lot better then AG even in its prototype mode. In those days, all YEP does is only choose 120-132 and !time and !level. There is nothing fancy like custom levels nor auth settings. The server Yck choose to host is also not that fancy and always reach limit easily. I remember I also took a short break because I though YEP is boring and occupied myself with another game (I also do my other stuff I am not a gamer just to clarify) when the prototype arrived so I dont know what happenn next Razz
When I come back it was 2012, the first version of YEP has done which you can make custom level. There is no bouncer rotate, axe rotate, axe size and even no textbox. It used to have 8000 limit but back then the code is bulky so it is equivalent to like 2000-3000 characters now I believe. Moreover, the levels are usually too easy or difficult and everyone is boasting about how hard or how many levels they created. Hence, I start to learn to create levels and aimed to focus myself on quality of level instead of difficuly and quantity of level. I also tend to have my own style and overtime I created hundreds of level and was one of the most popular level creator in the old EP world. I would say I am inspired by MagicTales with my level making style as he is really innovative in those times which you may see some influence from him (especially early to middle levels). Without him, especially his story series, I would not imagine I will create so many different levels. He is a really nice and interesting guy and who talk for hours literally! We also exchanged numbers and talk for hours (and later being discovered I am like 5 years younger then him LOL) I also glad that I inspired many people from my levels that people would actually imitate my level style and try to explore new ways to combine stuff Smile At least I leave a legacy here haha. So far I invented bouncer style level (also my first level), co-op, rotate axe, rollar coaster and many other things (To clarify: Story mode's idea is MagicTales not me.... UFO 1,2,3 and Survival 1,2 is inspired by him. Tutorial is Darwin37 idea! )
In the old YEP, there is no forums for levels and occasionally we lost of levels because we forgot to save or some funny reason (like watching something not appropriate and then crash their comp xD). KrissKhan has created forum so we can all store our levels at least. I gradually became the mod and then admin of the forum but frankly we do nothing xD (I did some personalization about the forum and KK handle some other minor issues as he is the owner)
Also, as YEP start to grow and some people invite other stupid people who are trolls etc. The whole YEP world was messy. Hence, auth is introduced and I am still honored I am one of the earliest auth people. Back then you need to login to AG have auth!Things are getting better and better as more development has done about the designer and the community is getting bigger and bigger wit more people and more ideas.
However, even with auth there are still problems and trollers. Kick code only reserves for limited players (only 2, and not me) and Auth code is also introduced (only 2, one of them is me, which I always fake identity as noob and test how people treat others lol). Things however does not go any better. So the site has moved to account version! Back then HTML works in EP chat so we can chat with colours and upload pictures. However Phoenix appearntly hate this idea and messaged yck to delete this (damn you >.<) which maybe because I upload pictures too frequently and sometimes broke the chat.
Then it comes to a new site.... And I am the first moderator of the site. It feels weird at first as I normally just don't care other people as long as they do not be a total jerk. However as the community regrow at the new site things changed. Regulations and stuff has jumped on and making it like a mini-society. More politics emerged compere to old YEP (I would not say none some players hate each other and some players are total jerk) and many of the major things happened after the account things happen. Although we have protection against spammers and stuff frankly the atmosphere of the whole community changed... I was the youngest and the only mod who is not an adult haha but I still manage to adapt as if I am one and deal with numerous issue. Honestly, I like the fact that I can actually become helpful and members with issues can request me for help, however I dont like being an enforcer and tell people what to do. I was and still is kind of lenient at those times compare to all the mods. I also happy to fight for some players who are wrongly treated by other people (usually due to miscommunication >.< ) and I was one of the most powerful mod I would say. Although things are more advance here, I would prefer the old YEP with less regulation and everyone just treat others as if they were the same. Sometimes I just feel like (and I know...) people treat me differently to other players. (it is better now.... as I am not a powerful mod anymore hahaha)
My A level exam then came and I start to quit this game. Although I come back from time to time I start to retreat from this game. And then its now... being an inactive mod hahaha
I skipped a lot of things as there are simpily too many things to say about me... Thats my most general history though Razz
Additional history (may add more soon)
EP wars
There are 2 major EP wars for those of you who don't know. KK vs. Phoenix and Xak vs. Phoenix. I dont know if I should say anything about xak vs. phoe thing as they both are still here but ill talk about KK's one since he is gone.... in my perspective ofc, and ill make things subject as it is my history (i.e. not objective say anything about what happen)
KK vs. Phoenix
It all begins with 2 of them miscommunication actually and then they generally hate each other. I personally has 2 of their contact and had a quite good relationship between them (KK by skype, Phoe by email) Both of them wants to convience me to join their sides and my job is to become the mediator of them (tries to...) and told them to stop this big mess. It always akward when both of them are in a room... Although I still find some hope when something happens bad individually (KK or Phoe) the other will ask what happened to the other guy via me and sometimes may wanna check if he/she is okey and offers advice which sometimes makes me quite confused what to say to the other one, the day happened around 2012-2013 (forgot which) when KK decide to leave EP and delete the whole forum... (Big thanks to Price to remaking the whole forum btw)
The last time I contact KK, he is quite unhappy and it seems that he take things maybe too personally. He even blocked me in skype later after leaving some extremely negative message... He even blocked Xak (they were good friends) as far as I know (I might be wrong) Thinking back, I shouldve done a better job since they both trusted me.
Copyright and AngelOfNice
It was all my falut I would say although some might say it isn't. It happens during 2012 when the YEP community decide in some way we need more people (it is like 2x more vibrant but still we want more people...we were greedy people). YEP is quite public at those days (mistake!) and I am the stupid one who posted the exact link which lead to the first site being terminated. We then realize the copyright problem behind it and quickly make the site more secretive.
Some people thought I suddenly hate the site and want to destroy the site though. At least that is what I heard when I saw some of my old YEP friends on AG EP. Prodigy98 is the one who say that some people (they not gonna tell her name) mentioned that I really hate the site and hate everyone so that I want to destroy the site. He invited me back to the YEP thankfully.
Later, as I ask more and more people about it, the conclusion has come that AngelOfNice is the one who spread the rumor. (It happens to be Phoenix's mentor haha, sorry phoe) I eventually forgive her and we play together but tbh I still really hate her xD I also remember AngelOfNice always demand private conversation with Moonscream and force everybody out rudely. (spam, insult way) but that's a story for another time.
Attempt to quit this game / numerous breaks
I always want to quit this friken game at some point beacuse it was a drug for me. The first attempt is 2012 and it is not sucessful at all because the community is too attract. I have another major break at 2012 and it is also not sucessful because of the same reason. (2 breaks are like 6 months in total)
The closet thing I attempted to left this game is 5/2013 to 9/2013 which because of Stainwayfirst called me there is an emergency issue on YEP and I came back (and end up playing again!!!) It is about the 2 wars I mentioned before.
Now.... I just being super inactive haha.
=====
Feel free to ask me the history of EP or if you want other history of myself (I have many but dunno which to type)
The History Of a Y-ep Player Empty Re: The History Of a Y-ep Player
Post by Kriss Sun Apr 12, 2015 2:58 pm
Hi guys, it's been a long time... not sure I should post here.
First of all, I hope everything's going well for all of you, even Phoe ^^
Tried to register as KrissKhan or KK, but someone registered using those usernames... Anyways.
I got bored today and arrived somehow on Exit Path... and here Smile
Some of you might still have some anger toward me. I want to apologize to all of you for deleting forum... Thing is: I've been suffering depression for the last 9 years and I found a shelter in EP and its community, and even more in YEP, where I spent literraly 3 years of my life. I still remember the old time when there was only 5 peeps on yck's... good time, Aaron, if you ever read this, love you man. With time, some nice and great players joined YEP, and between runners, there has always been competition, egos. After a while, some people became really "agressive" with me (in competitor's way) and I lived it really, really bad. The peaceful place that I had found earlier was not anymore peaceful... Depression in real life, no more shelter in my virtual world: I tried to kill myself twice, the "happiness" pills were not working anymore. I'm not saying all this to complaining or trying to make some of you guilty (you're not), it's just for explanation Razz
Anyways after a while, the shelter became just a place I couldn't stand anymore and I left everything, deleting the forum (anger and ego, how could this people dare to change this place ?!).
That's it to complete what Draggie said about the "War". I didn't know it was that big, sorry for the mess ;p
@Phoenix: I sincerly apologize, I don't hate you. I think I've never hated you. You were just the person the most "agressive" with me, I think you didn't even realize HOW MUCH haha ! I remember you, telling me you had some bad stuff going IRL too and I realize now that might be why you were acting like this with me... 2 poor souls -drama violin-. I hope you got all your problems fixed and you finished birghtly your studies ! :]
Though I apologize, I still disagree with some "little" things or people that have changed and if some of you, after reading this, wonder if I may come back someday, the answer is no (but I think nobody cares or even think about it, and that's how it should be xD).
For those who'd like to join me, you can send me an email at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], I sill take time to answer you for sure. I'm not anymore on Skype ^^
Désolé for my poor english, I haven't practiced it a lot lately ;p
Bye everybody, wish you the best xo
The History Of a Y-ep Player Empty Re: The History Of a Y-ep Player
Post by Nabbit Sun Apr 12, 2015 8:46 pm
I found this place in 2010, only because I scratch my Super Smash Bros. Brawl game for the Wii.  I only logged on a couple times back then; in fact, I think all I did was reach level 41 on a guest account and didn't touch the game again for a few months.  Then around 2011, I started logging on more frequently under that guest account; realizing that there were glitches in the game that could be practiced.  I was shy and never talked to anyone; afraid to make an account that people would recognize me by.  But one day I did and realized a whole bunch of people already recognized me because of my avatar, and kept inviting me into their clans. xD  (Hi Nuba, Wrath, and the other angels.)
From that point to when the more regulated version of YEP was made I would say was the golden age of my time on YEP.  It was an emotional ride, to say the least.  I would log on every day, meet great people, geninuely laugh for what seemed like the first time in years.  It was because of Exit Path that I was able to reconnect to who I really was; in my school life and at home I had to wear a mask for so long I forgot what was beneath it.
Something really bad happened to me however, (right before moderators were established on YEP) which made me stop logging on every day and become more disconnected from the community in general.  Because of that, I kind of regret becoming a moderator, or at least the things I did as a moderator.  I should've been more laid back and not of cared as much.  I just wanted to make sure the site was taken care of since EP still holds a place in my heart.  It was stupid of me, but yeah.  Sorry. :S
And well, that's a vague history of my time on YEP and EP.  It was a crazy ride.
The History Of a Y-ep Player Empty Re: The History Of a Y-ep Player
Post by ExitPather3 Thu Apr 16, 2015 10:17 am
This thread is really interesting and even if I seem pretty new in Yck-Ep, I spent a lot of hours, days of playing it and I have my own story. As you know, I'm French, so it's a bit difficult for me. But it doesn't really matter, let me write it down here.
June 2012, I was 13.
After playing all of my childhood at Heroes 3 (best video-game ever), I wanted to try something else. I knew Armor Games because of Strike Force Heroes (nice game, you should try it once at least), and I discovered EP. I immediately loved it and after a few days, I became crazy about his amazing multiplayer. I have used my first and old AG account to save my stats. I still can't remember the name of this account, indeed I stoped using it quickly and I created a more suitable one: "ExitPather3" (I know what you're thinking... "Why 3 and not just ExitPather ?" But the reason is simple, this username was already used by someone :3). So, I achieved the 41 level and met a lot of yck players, actually I didn't know they were, in fact I didn't know Yck. I can easily remember Phoenix, Wopi 2 and Phen of course. It looks strange, but he invited me 2 years ago. However, I've never can use his invite code. Without boasting, I became in a few months pretty good and skilled, I was playing every day and got 5000 matches. Then, a bit bored and disappointed, I left EP. I thought I stopped forever... But I was wrong.
June 2014, I was 15.
An afternoon, I went on AG with a friend, we were looking for a multiplayer game. It's really disturbing for me, indeed i'm thinking how one second changed my life. I had a vague memory of EP, i wasn't able to say the name of it. If I did something else with my friend, if i chose an other game, i'll never be here. But I saw this game... I discovered Ep again. I logged in once more with my ExitPather3 account. Wopi 2 and Phen were gone, but I met other guys... They taught me and invited me in Yck. I was very shy, but i tried to do my best. Less 2 weeks later I became a trusted player, 3 months later I became mentor. Now, after a quick break, i'm back, in fact i'll be always back because a part of my life is here.
I'm still sorry for my poor English, but I'm improving myself. If you remember, at the beginning I didn't speak English at all. ^^ In fact, thanks to all of you, I'm one the best in my french class xD
If someone can find my old AG account's name, I'll be grateful.
I'll never forget Xak', Clegeux, Nairod, Swiftest, Gl4h, Jordan, unknoun, squiggleinator3000, Frizouille, Jonathan, Volfang, runmaster, Ninzai, pcolyn, renske and nebmas who was my first friend in EP.
Thanks to have read it.
