Suggestions for Yck Empty Suggestions for Yck

Post by Guest_Phoenix94305 Sun Feb 08, 2015 5:22 am

Now, there have been a plethora of topics dedicated to the revival of the site, or whatever, but so few have anything to do with changing anything at all about the site itself. However, THIS topic is dedicated to suggestions for Yck to improve about the game!

(1) Private Rooms: This has been something I have wanted for a loooong time. By this, I mean, I want a room where only 1 player can enter with 0 spectators. This allows for the testing of new levels, etc., without giving anything away, or without being interrupted during the testing process. GAOP's mod test has the opportunity to create such rooms, but they tend to have problems... The other alternative, which is one I have used, is to take over a 1.0 room. This last option clearly is NOT desirable. I would make a lot more levels if I could test them in peace!

(2) Um, I guess this is a new problem, but, logging in again? Would like this. I always loved being Guest_Phoenix94305...

(3) Well, this goes more to designer, but I would like the ability to drag-and-place various things. Rather than click each block to place a block, one could drag a line to place a line of blocks. Also, with spikes, if they had a rotation, a drag line could place multiple spikes without the need to individually place and rotate them.

Now, (1) and (2) are suggestions for Yck's version of the flash game, and (3) is a suggestion for designer, but I think these all are AWESOME, and please let me know what you think!!

Why not, but only if the room is restricted to one player only. Would be interesting in that case to be able to talk to the tester from outside though (Exemple : if I know ou're you're testing something, I think I'd like to ask you if I can join haha ^^)

If you're talking about the log in issue that we've been encountering lately, then it's not related to YEP, only AG. So I doubt yck can do anything about it

Yep. There is a link in the announcements to a site where yck gives us the opportunity to submit ideas for the designer. I already wrote different things there. I'm not sure yck read it though lol, cuz none of what I suggested have been taken into consideration apparently - it was mostly about various well-known bugs.

About logging in, as I mentioned in the other thread about it, the problem is due to AG updating their stuff, and is likely (but not certainly) unfixable. That said, it is perfectly possible to have a pseudo-login implemented that would let you play named.

I'd like some sort of pseudo-login. In rooms with a lot of yck players it gets pretty confusing trying to keep track of who's who in the chat.

The point I was making about logging in was not to say that we fix the AG side, but that we could do something on OUR side to create the equivalent. We already login to Y-EP. What about making out Y-EP username the display name for Y-EP players? This lessens the confusion about who is in a room, and, actually, I like the idea because we would always know who is who. I was simply pointing to a problem we all acknowledge. What I don't get is why some people simply don't even think about ways of fixing a problem when the previous method no longer works. That's foolish. The idea was to think of solutions, not to reiterate what caused the problem in the first place.

While we're at it, it would be great if we could find a way to become an independent game. This game has potential to get way bigger then it is now. The problem is AG has been holding us back for years. Look at how big and popular haxball.com is. If we were independent, we could advertise at will and everyone can join without any invite codes needed. We could even be bigger then haxball. This community has active and friendly mentors and moderators. Our players are always friendly with one another. We have a cool chatroom in the game, our own profiles, we design our own levels, we got a cool forum, plus the game never gets old because Xak has shown us that there is no limit to how good you can get. I'm not sure if this idea is possible, but I'm just throwing it out there. Very Happy

Nope.

The entirety of yck-ep represents one big case of copyright infringement. It's not legal.

Now from what I can gather John is aware of it, and doesn't have a problem with it. Given permission from him this just might be feasible. More likely, to actually make it legal we would need permission from AG. Not gonna happen. (And if any fucking one of you sees this and gets it in their head to try and get permission from AG, you will feel my wrath. This shit is illegal, and AG are the only ones who might actually care enough to do something about it.)

Also, I love Haxball, but it's not something to aspire towards. That game has the absolute worst community...

A lot of AG members know about yck and I'm sure the site might, but of course it's not worth the risk and they'll almost surely say no

So it does!

They either reverted to the old API, or updated again. Either way it fixed it...
