Many times just a short timed ban is enough to get the person to calm down and be better.

Well that's just for spamming. Has there been some recent huge influx of griefers that have needed to be banned immediately for over 5 days just for spamming? If not, I don't see any evidence to suggest that a 1 day ban for spamming would be problematic. The other penalties are harsher too. I think a first punishment can be more lenient, and then if the problem continues, the punishment should get much harsher if it didn't serve as a proper deterrent the first time. Any specific offenses you think should have a greater ban period? And how long?

The way it is now is it's a 1 hour ban followed by a 1 day ban if things worsen... so we have both.

Suggest some different time periods, then. We're all ears. Smile

A kick instead of that '1 hour ban' would be better imo. Followed by 1 day ban if recurrence

I like that there is an effort to formulate rules and really put them in place. Perhaps I missed it but where are you planning on posting these rules? The most common response I find when confronting an individual about a broken rule is that they didn't not know they had broken a rule in the first place. In that case I believe this list of rules after being finalized should be posted and agreed with every time you log in. A simple rules list with an I agree button around the log in screen would suffice. I like the current rule list, though it's most undoubtedly going to have some changes as we wont really know for sure how harsh is to harsh until these rules go into effect. I think it's safe to say there will be some expected amendments.

- Excessive spamming in-game:
- Begging for customs/join rooms when obviously full
- Begging for rank:
The comunity could solve it themselves: mute the person.
For it to work everyone needs to mute though, because if only 1 or 2 person mute, the conversantion can become confusing ("are you talking to me?""no, im talking to MutedPerson")

Another alternative is having a "silence" button like they have in kongregate. Basicaly a mod can silence somone for 10 minutes, and while silenced that person cant chat. This is more work for yck tough so probably wont happen.

- Using YEP to harm 1.0 rooms (Ex: changing levels, crashing 1.0 players...)
   - Warning on profile and in-game (kick afterwards if mod)
   - 1st offense: 3 day temp ban
   - 2nd offense: 7 day temp ban (lose TP rank if posessed)
   - 3rd offense: perm ban
I think changing levels is a very separate thing from crashing rooms so the rules should be diferent. And how do we know if levels was changed now that we can't see it anymore?
As for the punishments:
Changing level: lose auth for 1 day, 3 days and 7 days
Crashing rooms or changing timer while people are trying to talk: 3 day ban, 7 day ban, perman ban

I think I agree with the rest

And what about mentors, should the punishment be harder on them? (same with mods but that will never happen lol)

OK, so here's what I think would be good punishment guidelines. The ages are based on how long on site, not how long with rank.

RULES AND GUIDELINES

1) Do not harass, bully, tease, etc. ANYONE.
2) Do not abuse your powers. i.e. If Trusted Player Rank, do not change time of spam levels.
3) Do not spam
4) Listen to Mentor rank if Trusted Player Rank or Someone rank, or if Mentor rank, listen to Moderator rank, etc.

PROMOTION AND DEMOTION CIRCUMSTANCES

Big Rule: No skipping ranks! Bans may be immediate.

To become No one rank, or banned, one must fracture the rules ON PURPOSE. At discretion of a mentor.

To become Trusted Player Rank, One must be on the site for at least 1 month without fracturing the rules. If banned once or more, promotion will be at discretion of a mentor

To become Mentor rank, one must be on the site for at least 4 months without fracturing rules and Trusted Player rank. If banned once or more, promotion will be at discretion of a moderator. Must show interest in community.

Becoming Moderator is purely at the discretion of Admin rank.

PUNISHMENT GUIDELINES

If the person has been on the site for less than 15 days and is Someone rank:

1) 2 hour ban
2) 1 day ban
3) 5 day ban
4) 10 day ban
5) Permanent Ban
*1-2) 2 warnings 3-4) 1 warning 5) 0 warnings

If the person has been here for 15 days+ and is Someone rank OR been here from 1-2 months and is Trusted Player rank:

1) 1 day ban
2) 7 day ban
3) 12 day ban (Revoke Trusted Player rank)
4) Permanent ban
*1) 2 warnings 2-3) 1 warning 4) 0 warnings

If the person is 2 months+ and Trusted Player rank OR is 4-8 months and is Mentor rank:

1) 3 day ban (Revoke Mentor Rank, Make Trusted Player rank)
2) 10 day ban (Revoke Trusted Player rank)
3) Permanent ban
*1-2) 1 warning 3) 0 warnings

If the person is 8 months+ (or from old site) and is mentor:

1) 10 day ban (Revoke Mentor rank, Make Trusted Player rank)
2) Permanent ban
*1-2) 0 warnings

If the person is Moderator rank:

1) Permanent ban
*1) 0 warnings

1 hour ban for spamming seems like a very short time in that time you could watch tv show come back and your not banned anymore 1 hour ban seems too short also what if yck broke the rules?

i agree that 1 hour and 1 day are really short (4 day is medium) (1 hour just shouldn't exist) but they are warnings for people if they listen and don't do that stuff again then there fine and don't need more punishment but if they don't care and do stuff again 1 week-permanent ban (depending on what it is spam could be a week and hacking into yck could be permanent ban

I dont think thats a good idea OZ. I agree that newer ppl should have lighter punishment. However, the more time the person knows the site the longer he/she plays already so it is not fair for those who stay long here, supporting this community.

1 hour ban is to serve as a warning. We don't want to appear too strict and lose new people. Same with the 1 day. After that we get serious and move up to 5-7 day bans then permanent ban. Most of these rules, remember, don't have a 1 hour ban mostly because the other rules get broken less often. Many start off with a 3 day temporary ban.

I removed the 1 hour ban from begging for ranks, though.

People using the mute button is only a dream. If everyone used it, things would be simpler.

When I was thinking of changing levels in 1.0 rooms, I was thinking of some weirdo changing the level to the same one every time to piss people off. I'll be more specific. I don't mind actually if people change 1.0 rooms as long as the levels they change it to as long as the levels are random.

I messaged yck about it, so I guess we'll see if he responds. Ideally we'll get yck to agree and post them on the site. I agree that we'll probably make changes later.

Yeah besides being extremely harsh, enforcing bans on changing the level in 1.0 rooms would often be impossible.

There are the suggestion of the penalties

First , protect the TP and someone have equal right of speaking and suggesting . So that all people can have their suggestion .

Second , the argue btw the players ( not have spamming , bullying ) should not in the penalty . ( See the first suggestion )

Third , we need to harsher of the penalty , it is course of more and more ppl said that some ppl are abuse their power ( about ban or demote for no reason ) . Besides of the demote and ban 7 days , ( now we use " the ppl " to replace a ppl who abuse his power and use " victim " to replace a ppl who banned/demoted for no reason ) for the abuse the ppl's powers to demote victim for no reason , also need to take of victim's penalties of begging of rank and have 20 days extra ban if the ppl do not apology and recover victim's rank . For ban for no reason , the ppl also have a extra ban , the time of extra ban is equal to the time of victim banned for no reason and have a permanent ban if the ppl not have apology and unban to the victim .

Fourth , if the player not abuse power in 20 day , the player can clear a break rules record every 20 days ( everyone need to have chance to mend )

Fifth , fair , open and right in all players in yck ep .

Sixth , avoid to use permanent ban ( see fourth ) I am not agree with permanent ban , if this is needed , I think should have 4 mods and 7 mentor and TP agree .

According to OZ , the TP means trusted player , the player need time to trusted , the mods need to have responsibility to manage the yck ep . But the mods and the mentors / TP break rules' penalty is too serious ( bz I play the old site 1-2 years...)
